Knowing that the end of his life and ministry were near, the apostle Paul wrote the last of his Pastoral Epistles to Timothy. In it, Paul reminded the younger pastor of the necessity of passing the Gospel of Jesus Christ on to future generations of believers, even amid growing hostility toward it. His words remind us that faithful ministry and biblical preaching are indispensable in every age.

In volume two of this series, Alistair Begg explores the character that is necessary to follow Christ amid temptation and suffering. Believers must pursue holiness with discipline and in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. Ministers must teach and obey God’s Word’s faithfully. All must depend upon God’s grace to persevere. Just as fine dishware has a place of honor and usefulness in a house, so God holds his people in honor when they have been cleansed from sin and set out in His service.
