True Security

1 Timothy 6:17–19  (ID: 2646)

Money is a day-to-day consideration for most of us, and it’s easy to assume a worldly perspective focused on amassing wealth and possessions. The theme that riches are uncertain, however, spans the Bible. Expounding on Paul’s statement that “godliness with contentment is great gain,” Alistair Begg offers practical insight on managing our attitudes toward money. Just as God’s Word warns about wealth’s dangers and duties, it also commands us to invest our hope in God, who alone is certain and secure.

17As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
