Prone to Wander

 (ID: 2076)

It can be easy to read the story of the golden calf in Exodus 32 and think, “I would never do that.” Having grown impatient for Moses to return from the mountain, the Israelites turned from God and began to worship a man-made idol. But like the Israelites, we are all equally prone to wander. Alistair Begg reminds us that when we lose our way, we ought to follow Moses’s lead and start with these foundational words: “Thus says the Lord God of Israel.”

The Golden Calf

1When the people saw that Moses vdelayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, w“Up, make us gods who shall xgo before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
