Loyalty: Learning from the Leaders

 (ID: 1175)

The author of Hebrews encouraged early Christians to show loyalty as they followed local church authorities. But what should believers expect from godly leaders? Alistair Begg offers several marks of biblical leadership. Good leaders hold fast to God’s Word, imitating Christ while urging others to imitate them. They also avoid manipulative behavior while helping to shepherd God’s people for His glory and our good.

7Remember fyour leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and gimitate their faith.

17Obey xyour leaders and submit to them, yfor they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to zgive an account. aLet them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
