As a tax collector, Levi knew what it felt like for people to tell him, “Go away.” Jesus surprised him by saying, “Follow me”—and in response, Levi obeyed. Jesus never leaves us where He finds us, Alistair Begg teaches. Christ’s dramatic intervention in Levi’s life gives us a picture of what of it means to follow Him and illustrates His mission: He came to save sinners like Levi, and like us.
