John the Baptist was a hero of the faith—but we often overlook his doubt when the Messiah’s arrival turned out differently than he’d imagined. Often, Alistair Begg explains, we behave similarly: we want God’s judgment on the undeserving wicked but think ourselves worthy of salvation. Do we realize we each have a need that God alone can meet, and that it can only be met through His grace, not our merits?
