John’s account of Christ’s resurrection shows us that despite all that the disciples had heard from Jesus, they did not understand the significance of His death or the promise that He would rise again. Their sadness, however, turned to joy and boldness when they were transformed by the risen Christ. We don’t mourn a Savior who is dead and buried. Insead, the message of Easter calls us to mourn for our sin, and then to rejoice in what Jesus has accomplished for us.
