Augustine once defined hymns simply as songs of praise to God. In this seminar, songwriter Keith Getty discusses his process for writing modern-day hymns. Through song, we seek to teach the Bible’s great truths and stories to the mind while also speaking to the heart. Especially in times of adversity, such songs of faith can be strong encouragements. Our aim, Getty says, must be to compose hymns which stand the test of time and minister across generations.
