The Key to John’s Gospel

John 20:30–31  (ID: GS560)

Near the end of his Gospel, the apostle John does us a great service in sharing the interpretive key to all that he has written. His final few sentences reveal his evangelistic purpose: that his readers “may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” and “have life in his name.” Using this key to unlock familiar verses in John 3, Dick Lucas shows us how the testimony and witness of Jesus leads to belief and, ultimately, eternal life.

30Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
