In an image- and soundbite-driven culture, ministers must preach well if they want people to listen. Vaughan Roberts explains the two journeys that will aid us in effective proclamation. First, the preacher must go to God’s Word and allow it to set the agenda, asking, “What is the thrust of the text?” Second, the preacher must venture into his context, faithfully conveying Scripture’s message to the church, and then to the world.
