With so many people today facing the problem of loneliness, our need for genuine friendship is undeniable. Alistair Begg unpacks from Proverbs the characteristics of a true friend. Such friends are not contrary but consistent and do not base their connection upon circumstances or status. They are also considerate and avoid contentiousness. While we should all strive to be such friends, no one can perfectly fulfill these criteria save one—Jesus, who alone will never let us down or forsake us.
24A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but zthere is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
