The life of Christian faith is often expressed as a journey, and Alistair Begg employs this metaphor as he turns our attention to what James has to say about life in Christ. If we are to achieve God’s purpose for our time on earth, we can expect to face trials. Only after preparing for and responding properly to difficult times can we then heed James’s words and count our trials as joy.
2eCount it all joy, my brothers,2 when you meet trials fof various kinds, 3for you know that gthe testing of your faith hproduces steadfastness. 4And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be iperfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5jIf any of you lacks wisdom, klet him ask God, lwho gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
