Boasting in our wisdom, strength, or riches—or placing our identity in those things—leads only to disappointment and despair. Such worldly benefits cannot answer our deepest questions or fulfill our greatest need. So what is a secure hope? What is worth boasting in? Both the prophet Jeremiah and the apostle Paul point us to God, who is kind, just, and righteous. In this message, Alistair Begg draws from both the Old and New Testaments to challenge us to boast only in Christ.
23Thus says the Lord: y“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24but zlet him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. aFor in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
