The guilt we feel from sin often leads to sorrow and shame. As Alistair Begg points out, though, there is an important distinction between worldly sorrow and godly grief. Our response to our sin should be serious, focused on God’s glory, and neither insincere nor superficial. In understanding sin rightly as an act against a holy God, we can correct our response to it and direct our sharing of the Gospel toward true repentance.
