An Exposition of Psalm 130 — Part Two

Psalm 130:4–8  (ID: 3245)

The psalmist’s cry to the Lord for mercy is echoed in countless hearts every day. Like the psalmist, we rest our hope on the promises in His Word. Teaching from Psalm 130, Alistair Begg examines God’s forgiveness—a forgiveness that cost Him much and that causes our hearts to rightly fear Him. Faced with our guilt, we can find hope only in the steadfast love of the Lord and the redemption that is ours in Christ.

4But with you there is forgiveness,

that you may be feared.

5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

and in his word I hope;

6my soul waits for the Lord

more than watchmen for the morning,

more than watchmen for the morning.

7O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love,

and with him is plentiful redemption.

8And he will redeem Israel

from all his iniquities.
